The Botswana Family Welfare Association (BOFWA) is looking to fill the position of Advocacy and Policy Program Officer.
This is a national position to be based in Gaborone under the Botswana Key Populations Advocacy Communication Social Mobilization (ACSM) project which is a three year cooperative agreement from the USAID. The position is to provide leadership in the development and implementation of Advocacy campaigns at both National and District levels in Gaborone, Selebi Phikwe, Francistown and Maun.
Reporting to the Project Director of the Botswana Key Populations Advocacy Communication and Social Mobilization (ACSM) project, the holder of this position will take the lead in strategy, planning, development and implementation of advocacy, communications and social mobilization campaigns working in close collaboration with project implementing partners and key stakeholders including the Media and community stakeholders to create an enabling environment for improved access to friendly services by Key populations.
Requirements
Academic Qualifications and Experience
- Applications are invited from individuals with an advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in communications, social sciences, development studies, journalism, public health, law or a related field of work, or a relevant combination of academic qualifications and experience OR
- A first level university degree in communications, social sciences, development studies, journalism, public health, law or a related field of work in combination with 7 years qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced degree.
The post holder will need to have advanced technical knowledge/ understanding of advocacy and communication as well as sound programme development and management skills, must be an excellent communicator, planner and also able to form good, trusting relationships with BOFWA partners.
