ASSISTANT ACCOUNTANT

Job Summary
To ensure and perform effective accounting transactions in accordance with Mine policies and procedures

Requirements

Key Activities:

• Manages and monitors optimal use of resources and systems.
• Provides support to other departments to ensure timely and accurate submission of reporting information.
• Prepares financial reports and submits to management for analysis.
• Prepares and submits statutory returns.
• Maintains master files to ensure that static transaction data is accurate and up-to-date.
• Monitors compliance with contracts to ensure that the Mine is not prejudiced.
• Approves and authorises reconciliations/ analyses and reports to ensure completeness and accuracy.
• Maintains and reviews procedures to ensure they are applicable to changing circumstances.
• Ensures that employees are selected, deployed, trained, evaluated and rewarded in compliance with existing employee management systems.
• Coaches, counsels and mentors subordinate employees.
• Adheres to and promotes Safety, Health and Environmental policies and procedures.

Minimum Education, Training & Experience Requirements

• BGCSE and Degree in Accounting or equivalent coupled with 3 years’ experience in an accounting environment.
• Registration with BICA or equivalent accounting professional body a prerequisite.
• Understanding of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).
