DEPUTY DIRECTOR – E2 X 1 POSITION TENABLE AT DEPARTMENT OF TECHNICAL SERVICES
SALARY: E2 (P334, 944.00 – P348, 468.00 per annum)
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.

QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor of Engineering in Roads/Civil/Water or related fields. MSc or post graduate specialist or administration qualification in the above would be an added advantage.
EXPERIENCE: At least 14 years relevant work experience, 2 years of which must have been at D1 salary scale or equivalent.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB: To plan and coordinate all engineering activities (in terms of project planning, execution and monitoring) and the general departmental management.

DUTIES:
• Initiate long term strategic planning for the department, determines priorities and directs resources accordingly.
• Develop responses to Parliamentary questions.
• Liaise with functional heads over administrative and functional issues of the Department.
• Prepare annual staff performance appraisal/ reports and submit to the Director for appropriate action.
• Carry out general supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and laws such as appraising performance, disciplining employees, training employees, interviewing, addressing complaints and solving problems.
• Translate strategies into action plans, efficient procedures and sound policies that support the needs of the department.
• Prepare cabinet papers and policy papers on different subjects, as necessary.
• Coordinate and monitor budget requirement by consolidating and verifying information obtained from the department and facilitate budget utilization.
• Provide mechanisms for decision making and problem solving based on careful financial and strategic analysis.
• Undertake any other related duties as assigned by management.
