The Kazungula Bridge Project Office now invites applications from suitably qualified Citizens for the position of “Accountant”.
Salary: Negotiable
Annual Leave: 30 working days per annum
Core Duties
Core Duties include but not necessarily limited to:-
  • Advise and ensure internal controls are in place and effective;
  • Maintain the Project’s general ledger and related accounting practices, including payables, receivables, inventories, fixed assets and month end accounting reconciliations;
  • Prepares annual budgets;
  • Process payments;
  • Ensure compliance on all Tax matters;
  • Ensure all tax returns, PAYE, and other WHT, are submitted before deadlines;
  • Ensure retirements of imprest and other allowances
  • Review payroll inputs and payroll reconciliations;
  • Maintain Asset Register;
  • Prepare monthly expenditure reports;
  • Prepare monthly Bank reconciliation;
  • Prepare quarterly and annual Financial Statements;
  • Follow up on audits;
  • Handle all the relevant registers of accounting documents;
  • Handle Cash flow forecasting;
  • Liaise with the Financing Departments of the Executing Agencies in Botswana and Zambia;
  • Liaise with external organizations - Banks, Auditors and relevant Government organizations such as Botswana Unified Revenue Services (BURS) and Zambia Revenue Services (ZRA);
  • Other activities assigned to her/him by the Project Mangers from time to time.


Must possess:-
  • At least a bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or equivalent
  • A qualification from a recognized professional accounting institution such as Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Institute of Chartered Accountants in England and Wales (ICAEW), Certified Public Accountant (CPA), the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants (CIMA) will be an added advantage.
  • A minimum of Seven (7) years of post-graduate work experience in Accounting, out of which 3 years should be in Project accounting. Experience in Donor funded projects will be an added advantage.
  • Experience on public accounting standards and taxation systems.
  • Proficiency in the use of accounting packages such as PASTEL.

Company profile

The Kazungula Bridge Project Office (KBPO) has been established by the Governments of Botswana and Zambia. The Project Office is the representative of the Executing Agencies, the Ministry of Transport and Communications (MTC) of Botswana and Road Development Agency (RDA) of Zambia. The objective of the Project Office is to coordinate the Procurement and Construction of the Kazungula Bridge across the Zambezi River and associated One Stop Border Facilities on both sides of the Border. The Project Office is located at Department of Road Transport and Safety Plot, Off A33 (Kazungula-Francistown Road), Kazungula, Botswana.
