A five month consulting opportunity to support I-TECH Botswana’s Routine HIV testing program has arisen. Working with facility leadership and staff, theconsultant will provide technical assistance to health facilities to improve the uptake of Routine HIV testing.
The consultant will report to the I-TECH Botswana Director of Programs. The job entails a considerable amount of travel outside Gaborone.
Requirements
General Roles and Responsibilities include:-
- Overseeing one to two districts in the implementation of RHT activities
- Training and mentoring of health care workers at health facility level to deliver high quality HIV testing programs.
- Conducting continuous quality improvement (CQI) and developing and applying innovative methods to improve the uptake of RHT services and HTC data quality at health facilities.
- Conducting Site Improvement Monitoring System (SIMS) remediation to improve service provision..
- Analyzing and interpreting data and ensuring data are used for program improvement. .
- Promoting comprehensive documentation and data for action at health facilities.
- Ensuring that weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports on all program activities related to RHT are prepared and submitted in a timely manner.
Minimum requirements
- Possession of a university degree in one of the following areas: Nursing .
- A minimum of 5 years working experience in the Botswana health sector.
- Experience with HIV testing and counselling programs in Botswana
- Experience in providing in- service training/mentoring to health care workers.
- Experience and a good understanding of the national health care system.
- Strong ability to analyze and interpret data and use data for action.
- Excellent problem-solving, decision-making, organizational and communication skills, with ability to prioritize multiple tasks and work effectively in a demanding environment.
- Excellent interpersonal skills, including patience, flexibility, diplomacy, cross-cultural communication, willingness to listen, and respect for colleagues.
- Capacity to work independently and to operate as a team player in large diverse teams.
- Excellent writing and critical thinking skills.
- Knowledge of standard computer applications including MS Office, PowerPoint, and Excel.
- Current registration with the Botswana Nursing Council.
