Job Summary

Requirements
Minimum Requirements
- Degree in an Mechanical Engineering
- Eight (8) years post qualification engineering experience in heavy engineering, including Engineering In Training (EIT) programme, with 3 years at substantive mining industry Engineer level
- Registration with Botswana Engineers’ Registration Board

Key Activities
- Analyses the divisional area’s financial needs to develop a budget and ensures sufficient financial resources to meet business needs.
- Translates the engineering strategy into medium/ long term strategic leverage areas or interventions for development of maintenance systems to support the division in meeting objectives and targets.
- Coordinates the effective provision of integrated engineering services to business units/divisions by evaluating requirements and formulating a medium/ long term schedule to meet objectives.
- Oversees the implementation of the asset management strategy, standards, policies and practices.
- Manages equipment data relating to maintenance history, audit and specifications throughout equipment life cycle.
- Ensures management and maintenance of contracts within the business unit.
- Ensures compliance to performance standards, statutory and legal requirements for equipment taking cognizance of safety, health, environment and technical requirements.
- Coordinates and controls divisional/business units projects as and when required, taking cognizance of accepted project methodologies and operational readiness.
- Attends to all administrative functions of the department, taking cognizance of the need to create an audit trail.
- Manages the business risk to align with corporate governance best practice and ensure compliance with all relevant statutory legislation.
- Manages the training and development of the engineering disciplines within the designated business unit/division.
- Manages subordinates key effectiveness areas by setting, monitoring and reviewing performance and taking remedial action.
- Implement knowledge management principles through application of tools and methodologies to continuously improve and sustain business performance.
- Manages the continuous improvement program to ensure optimal equipment availability and cost savings.
- Manages and coordinates the implementation of safety, health and environmental programmes in area of responsibility.
- Coordinates the development and dissemination of the operation’s Asset Management Improvement Strategy aligned to the Mine’s Strategic Plan in conjunction with relevant departments.
- Assures process is in place to develop and deliver the technically based equipment maintenance programs.
- Facilitates Failure Mode Effects and Criticality Analysis (FMECA) Reliability Centered Maintenance, Maintenance Task Analysis, enabling the development of technically based equipment maintenance programs incorporating facility control standards driven by product characteristics, equipment life specification, serviceability and costs.
- Monitors and reports asset performance metrics against standards.
- Designs, implements and maintains an effective predictive maintenance program for the operation.
- Coordinates internal and external audits on Asset Management maturity assessments.
