JOB SUMMARY
The Retail Banking Finance Business Partner add-value to the strategic direction, planning, budgeting forecasting and performance of the business in support of the Cluster or Business Head. He is also responsible for preparation and analysis of regular Management Reports such as the Pipeline Management Pack and Cube. Implement controls within the Business Unit to meet business cost challenges and also assist Business Unit Head and Finance Operational Risk Manager in coordinating, driving and directing effective compliance and operational risk management at the Business Unit level.

Requirements

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
  1. Support the Retail Banking (SN Africa) on strategy development, business planning and budgeting.
  2. Ongoing evaluation of business decision making process through business MIS and application of analytics.
  3. Actively implement the business partnering concept between Country Finance teams and the SN Africa Retail Banking division.
  4. Actively implement a consistent path to the Group Business model and migrate best practice. Analysis and evaluation of investment decisions and options support the project approval process and provide financial management of initiatives.
Reporting
  1. To report Cluster Retail Banking performance and ensure reports are timely and accurate at both product and customer segments levels.
  2. With the assistance of the Planning team develop and maintain management Reports to meet Group RB and Country Management information requirements
  3. Assist with the consistent application of Funds Transfer Pricing and cost allocation methodologies and keeping them up to date.
  4. Ensure proper provisioning of cost for effective cost management
Budgeting and Planning
  1. Actively support the formulation and reporting of the annual Cluster Retail Banking Budget.
  2. Assist to develop and maintain product and customer segment profitability modelling.
People
  1. Employees must have defined roles and responsibilities
  2. Direct supervision, coaching and mentoring.
  3. Individual Learning and Developments Plans must be completed and recorded in the system (people wise).
Operational Risk Management and Assurance
Act as Unit Operational Risk Manager for the Reporting Unit
  • To report Unit's Operational Risk issues and losses to Finance Operational Risk Manager (FORM)
  • To assist (FORM) in developing and updating of procedures, controls and monitoring plans for Operational Risk Management
  • To adhere to the agreed Control Sample Testing (CST)
  • To identify and report all exceptions on non compliance with standard controls
  • To identify and report all weaknesses inherent in the standard controls
  • To maintain proper record keeping on all EST related activities
  • To maintain independence in the conduct of KCSA, i.e. not selecting and reviewing sample of self-performed transactions
Health & Safety (General)
  1. Complete mandatory Health and Safety (H&E) learning; behave responsibly in compliance with this policy;
  2. Follow instructions as defined in H&S standard and comply with applicable legal requirements;
  3. Report work related accidents, incidents, ill health and unsafe workplace conditions
  4. Cooperate in assessment and mitigation of H&S risks and investigation of accidents and incidents.
Health & Safety (Direct Reports related)
  1. Ensure all Employees complete mandatory H&S training; Adequate information, training, instructions and supervision are provided to members of staff regarding H&S;
  2. Provision of appropriate fire wardens and first aiders for their department in accordance with H&S standards;
  3. Relevant risk assessments are completed and identified risks are mitigated;
  4. Employees discharge their H&E related responsibilities appropriately
Conduct Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership in Botswana Retail Finance team to comply with the highest standards of regulatory and business conduct and practices as defined by internal and external requirements. Understand and ensure compliance with, in letter and spirit, all applicable laws, regulations and guidelines including those governing securities activities, company law, anti-money laundering, terrorist financing and sanctions; the Group's policies and procedures; and the Group Code of Conduct. Take personal responsibility for understanding the risk and compliance requirements of the role. Effectively and collaboratively identify, escalate, mitigateand resolve risk and compliance matters.
  • Embed the Group's Values and Group Code of Conduct to ensure adherence with the highest standards of ethics. Comply with relevant policies, processes and regulations, as part of the culture. Lead by example by displaying exemplary conduct behaviours and take personal responsibility for:
  • The conduct of individuals in Botswana Retail Finance team ensuring behaviours set out in the Group Code of Conduct is followed.
  • Botswana Retail Finance team achieving the outcomes set out in the Conduct Principals and Pillars.
  • Both direct and indirect/dotted line managers are individually accountable to proactively collaborate and agree on the conduct ratings of employees.
REQUIREMENTS FOR THE ROLE:
  • Degree in Finance Business Administration, Accounting (B.Comm) and Professional Accounting qualification (e.g. CIMA or ACCA), together with 10 years of relevant working experience.
  • A sound knowledge of Accounting, performance management and indeed an all round banking experience.
  • Good communications and inter personal skills due to the frequent contact with both internal and external customers.
  • Ability to work in busy, strenuous environment for long hours.
  • Hands on experience in computer packages and spreadsheets.
