Job Summary
To ensure the smooth and efficient running of the mine workshop to minimize customer machine down time.

Requirements
Key Output
- Ensure that regular machine inspections are done and reports compiled to the customer and Komatsu.
- Forward and discuss relevant reports with the Branch Manager and any other related departments so as to highlight warranty, repair and manufacturing or design problems.
- Comply with legal environmental health and safety regulations, Komatsu environmental health and safety standards and customer specific environmental health safety standards.
- Ensure that the relevant documentation with regards to environmental health and safety for Komatsu and the customer is kept and updated as per the Qualifications & Competencies.
- Strive to ensure that all people working on the Komatsu equipment is made aware of the risks and hazards involved, with regards to environmental health and safety, in working with this equipment and report non-compliance to the relevant authorities.
- Drive maintenance initiatives and make recommendations to improve the machine availabilities.
- Assist in parts planning, especially that which pertains to maintenance, re-builds and planned work.
- Monitor and evaluate machine availabilities and report these figures to the Branch Manager.
- Manage all personnel reporting to him/her and as and when required any contractors that might be reporting to him/her for a temporary period and ensure they comply to high standards of workmanship and safety.
- Ensure the Komatsu policies and procedures are adhered to.
- Manage the account with the customer including the debtors and WIP.
Qualifications & Competencies
- A Certificate National Craft Certificate (NCC) Heavy Plan Mechanic or equivalent
- Minimum 10 years working experience in a mining environment
- A safety conscious individual with a good understanding of risk and the balance between productivity and safety
- A good understanding of relevant legislation; Factories Act 44:01 and especially the Mines, quarries, works and machinery Act 44:02
