The African Union Advisory Board on Corruption is an autonomous organ established within the African Union, in terms of Article 22 of the African Union Convention on Preventing and Combating Corruption. The main mandate of the Board is to promote and encourage the adoption of measures and actions by State Parties to prevent, detect, punish and eradicate corruption and related offences in Africa as well as to follow-up on the application of those measures and submit a report to the Executive Council on a regular basis on the progress made by each State Party in complying with the provisions of the Convention.
In seeking to achieve these objectives, the Board intends to strengthen its capacity to deliver, by amongst others, the implementation of a basic organizational structure and the filling of all vacant posts.
The Commission of the African Union invites applicants who are citizens of Member States for a position in the Secretariat of the Board which is mainly in charge of providing substantive, professional, administrative and logistical support to the Board.

2. Major duties and responsibilities:
Under the direct supervision of the Executive Secretary, the Senior Policy Officer – Economic & Statistical Matters will contribute and provide technical advice to advance the work of the African Union Advisory Board on Corruption. He/she will contribute to the Boards’ annual/periodic reports/publications and, as a member or leader of multidisciplinary teams, contribute to the formulation, implementation, monitoring and evaluation of the impact of anti-corruption programmes from a socio-economic perspective. In particular he/she will:
a. Undertake socio-economic analyses of factors/issues and trends that cause corruption and undermine development in Africa;
b. Assist in planning, preparing and implementation of programme activities relating to the fight against corruption and related offences from an economic perspective;
c. Provide socio-economic analyses of the impact of anti-corruption programmes in Africa;
d. Liase and provide technical back-stopping and guidance to relevant personnel in the Regional Economic Communities (RECs) and AU Member States in the socio-economic analyses of regional trends and impact of corruption on national economic programmes;
e. Collate, analyse and synthesize socio-economic data and information to support the development of evidence based policies to promote anti-corruption programmes;
f. Contribute to the preparation and execution of AUABC annual, quarterly and monthly work programmes and prepare progress reports on the socio-economic components in accordance with reporting guidelines provided by the Board;
g. Organize Seminars, workshops and other related activities as well as draft speeches, talking points, rep[orts of activities and specific missions;
h. Provide support in other areas of AUABC’s work and undertake any other duties as maybe assigned by the Supervisor.

3. Qualifications and Experience Required:
Candidates must have a Master’s Degree in Statistics, Economics/Socio-Economics, Finance or any other related fields. A higher qualification will be an added advantage.
4. Professional Experience Required:
Candidates must have at least seven (7) years of professional experience in socio-economics and/or anti-corruption programme development, including project design, implementation and monitoring with, preferably, three (3) years in an international organisation.
5. Other Relevant Skills:
Computer literate;
Excellent drafting and reporting skills;
Good communication and negotiating skills;
Good knowledge of policy analysis, programme management, implementation and monitoring;
Good planning and organizational skills;
Ability to work under pressure and to act with discretion in a politically sensitive and multi-cultural environment ;

Indicative basic salary of US$35,300.00 per annum plus other related entitlements e.g. Post adjustment (42% of basic salary), Housing allowance ($17,222.40 per annum), education allowance (75% of tuition and other education related expenses for every eligible dependent up to a maximum of US$7,800.00 per child per annum), for internationally recruited staff of the Commission.
