This is a developmental role which will provide the successful candidate with an opportunity to be involved in many aspects of BG’s financial reporting and policies and allow exposure to key members of the finance teams in each of the BU’s. It is a key role in ensuring accuracy of BG’s financial reporting. You will be a member of a team dedicated to financial reporting in BG comprising 2 people plus the successful candidate.

BG Technical Accounting Manager – British Gas – The Role
The key job responsibilities are as follows:
Advice to the business units on IFRS and UK GAAP accounting issues and developments, including the treatment of high value or complex items
Deliver in-house technical accounting and financial reporting training
Review BG components of Centrica plc Annual Report and Accounts
Manage the preparation and review of the BG judgment paper at the HY and FY for signing by BG senior management and review by Centrica Group
Maintain the BG accounting issues log for discussion internally and with our external auditors
Deal with technical accounting queries raised by our auditors through the audit process
Prepare relevant technical accounting papers/models through liaison with the business in order to determine and document the accounting conclusions
Technical reviews of complex UK GAAP statutory accounts Involvement in other ad-hoc technical related projects

Desired Skills and Experience
BG Technical Accounting Manager – British Gas – The Person
The successful candidate will be a qualified accountant with either complex IFRS and UK GAAP exposure outside of practice or alternatively a manager in Top 10 practice looking to move into the Energy sector.
You will be able to demonstrate excellent interpersonal skills, be a confident and influential leader with versatile and hands-on management capability.
Able to produce and communicate advice in a clear and effective manner, detailed understanding of complex commercial and accounting issues and understanding of IFRS is essential.
The role will provide the right person with a high profile position which with a strong ambitious nature will enable a broad and high reward long term career.
The candidate will need to be an excellent communicator who can build trust and relationships to quickly become a trusted adviser and a key part of the team.
