Mechanical engineer

Duties and Resposibilities

Specific responsibilities will include:

- Ensure control technology is accurately calibrated and achieves optimum performance development, implementation and successful management preventative and predictive maintenance programs

- Maintaining mine mechanical plan and equipment to high levels of availability and reliability whilst controlling costs and spare parts availability.

- Development, justification and implementation of approved performance improvement initiatives including associated capital equipment acquisition, installation and commissioning

- Mining process plan commissioning

- Liaison with process team to develop maintenance process

- Selection and management of maintenance contractors

- Ensure safety and environment procedure development and implementation

- Providing basic knowledge of SCADA, and Telemechanique modicon TSX PLC

- Maintaining hard rock crusher, mills, screens, feeders, pumps, motors(DC, AC and Synchronous)

- Eligible for statutory appointment as per the Botswana Mines Quarry and Machinery Act. 

Qualifications and Requirements

- A degree in mechanical engineering or equivalent

- At least ten(10) years' experience in order to provide an effective installation testing and maintenance of all electrical equipment
