Working under the direct supervision of the Strategic Information Specialist (GNCBP), the Strategic Information Coordinator (GNCBP) is responsible for providing a range of technical and administrative support relating to the monitoring and evaluation (M&E) activities of the Global Nurse Capacity Building Program (GNCBP) including mixed-methods program evaluation, and enhanced program monitoring and evaluation.
This position is grant funded.
Note: This is a one (1) year position.
MAJOR ACCOUNTABILITIES:
Mid-term evaluation:
- Contribute to the development and design of quantitative and qualitative protocols, data collection tools, training materials, and standard operating procedures
- Participate in data collection activities, including compiling and reviewing program documents, supporting key informant and focus group activities, and conducting data abstraction
- Support the transcription, coding, analysis and management of qualitative and quantitative data
- Draft reports, and scientific abstracts and manuscripts summarizing evaluation results
- Support the coordination of midterm activities by liaising with country and program teams and consultants in planning and logistics
Routine program monitoring:
- Support implementation of annual organizational capacity assessments for supported schools and professional associations
- Support ICAP-Lesotho and ICAP-Ethiopia country teams on the development, implementation and monitoring of school-level databases to track student enrollment and retention as well as student training/learning data
- Support routine monitoring and evaluation activities as requested
- Performs other related duties as directed
EDUCATION:
- Requires a Bachelor’s degree in public health, anthropology, sociology, community psychology, education, social work or related field emphasizing qualitative research methods training
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & MINIMUM REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Minimum three (3) years of experience working in areas primarily focused on qualitative research such as conducting focus groups and key informant interviews, document reviews, coding and analyzing qualitative data
- Strong data management and analysis skills and knowledge/experience in establishing database systems
- Working knowledge of Microsoft Windows (i.e. Outlook, Excel, Word, & Access) required
- Demonstrated experience performing a variety of specialized tasks related to managing data, reporting, technical and administrative services in support of program activities
- Excellent oral/written communication, interpersonal, organizational, and computer skills
EXPERIENCE, SKILLS & PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
- Demonstrated knowledge of qualitative data management (i.e. Atlas.ti or NVivo) and analysis methods preferred
- Demonstrated experience with or knowledge of human resources for health or health systems strengthening
- Demonstrated experience conducting studies and/or reviews in sub-Saharan Africa or other resource limited settings where there are resource limitations and cultural differences to contend with
- Experience in monitoring and evaluation activities such as setting up and/or supporting field data collection and management systems and conducting both qualitative and quantitative data analysis
TRAVEL REQUIREMENTS:
- Requires frequent travel (four (4) to five (5) trips) to ICAP country programs throughout sub-Saharan Africa with each trip lasting between five (5) and fifteen (15) days
