The Company is currently seeking to recruit suitably qualified and experienced applicants to following position:

HDPE WELDER (PLASTICIAN) X 5

Job Summary
To execute assigned tasks in line of trade, which may include examination of detailed drawings to find out job, material and equipment requirements.

Requirements

Main Responsibilities
A key responsibility for this position would be the welding of HDPE pipes which will involve the following:

• Making use of measuring equipment to verify dimensions of material provided against drawings, interpret components and assembly drawings, and use allocated resources and personnel to achieve set engineering (SMPP) construction projects.
• Usage, service, inspection and maintenance (including conditions-based) of engineering operational maintenance primary equipment like HDPE Machines, etc.
• Welding of HDPE pipes in line with parameters of the HDPE machine and proper procedures for butt and electrofusion welding.
• Proper usage of Extrusion Hand Gun & Hot Air Guns
• Dealing with precision equipment in process moulding or extrusion moulding technology.
• Conducting work in line with set quality assurance standards, work targets and specified standards

An integral part of the work would be strict adherence to Safety, Health, Safety, Environment and Housekeeping. This will entail:

• Performing work in accordance with relevant safe working procedures.
• Reporting any dangerous conditions/ incident/ accidents immediately as per the SHE system .
• Taking reasonable care of own health and safety and that of others in the workplace.
• Using the PPE required for the specific task or working condition
• Performing tasks assigned to the SHE system i.e. keeps workplace clean.
• Reporting incidents/ accidents & identifies SHE conditions and work practices that are dangerous or could lead to pollution & report immediately as per the SHE System requirement.
• Performing all tasks in accordance with the SHE system.

Qualifications, Experience and Attributes
The successful candidate will possess a Thermoplastic Welding Competency Certificate or related qualification with Butt and Electrofusion Welding. He/she must be able to interpret drawings, specifications/isometric drawings/plans etc. Must be able to understand and implement safe working practices.

A minimum of five (5) years post qualification experience in large process plants with SMPP projects.

Our Client is a multi-disciplined company specialising in customised construction contracting in structural steel, mechanical, plate work, and piping. The Company has been awarded a contract for the Structural, Mechanical, Piping and Plate Work (SMPP) for the Letlhakane Mine Tailings Resource Treatment Plant.
