The Institute of Development Management (IDM) was established in 1974 as a regional organisation for Botswana, Lesotho and Swaziland to help meet the needs of the 3 countries through management development activities such as training, consultancy, research and the establishment of a Management Resource Centre. IDM is seeking a professional with strong entrepreneurial aptitute and commercial flair to fill abovementioned position.
The purpose of this role is to provide strategic leadership, management and direction to the institute.
Strategic leadership
- Coordination of strategic planning and implementation
- Produces the company strategy for board approval
- Representation of the institute at senior level, locally regionally and internationally
- Policy and procedures development
- Direct and Coordinate all Activities of the Institute
To manage cooperation among members of the tripartite
- To delegate duties to the Country Directors
- To ensure compliance to all plans and management resolutions
- To ensure attainment of corporate targets by all offices
Corporate Governance
- To ensure statutory compliance with Company laws in BLS
- To ensure adherence to internal controls and continuous implementation of corrective action as recommended by auditors
- To supervise policy implementation at corporate level
- To implement the board decisions and advises the board on company policy and performance
Performance management
- To provide leadership for the design, review and implementation of the performance management system
- To ensure attainment of corporate performance targets
- To ensure development of performance plans and agree on targets with senior managers
- To monitor and evaluate senior manager’s performance and ensure attainment of their targets
Requirements
- Master's degree or equivalent qualification from a recognized institution. Formal training in supervision.
- 15 years general experience
- 3 yrs experience in executive management
- Extensive managerial/Supervisory experience in a tertiary level training institution or within a private sector service industry.
- Highly developed PR and communication skills essential.
