Payroll Officer
Main purpose of the job
To provide accurate ad timely processing of the payroll and attainment of all other payroll related duties.
Duties shall include but not limited to:
• End to end processing of three Payroll databases for Permanent and contract employees
• Ensuring accuracy of all payroll related transactions
• Processing of salary increases and calculation of back pays
• Monthly processing of PAYE , Filling in the Tax FOMRS and submission to BURS
• Processing third –party payments
• Maintaining leave and severance benefit accruals on a monthly basis
• Liaising with staff and management on Payroll related queries
• Undertaking required internal and external reporting
• Updating and maintaining payroll records
• Providing assistance to the Human Resource Team as and when required.
Position requirements
Education/professional background:
• Degree/high National Diploma in Accounting or A degree in Human Resources Management or related relevant field.
Experience and competencies
• The position requires a minimum of 5 years post qualification experience in a large commercial organization with primary responsibility for payroll administration and processing
• Experience and knowledge of the VIP Payroll Information System is critical.
• The candidate should have a good understanding of all statutes relating to the key areas of responsibility e.g The Employment Act and the Income Tax Act
• Problem solving and decision making
• Attention to detail
• Numeracy skills-reconciliations
• Time management skills
• Information and technology proficiency
• Customer service focus
• Excellent written and spoken communications skills
