Public Affairs & Projects Intern

The International Union of Property Owners (UIPI) is looking for a Public Affairs & Project Intern for a period of six months, starting beginning of September 2014.

About UIPI

The UIPI is a leading representative body for home owners and private landlords in Europe. With 30 member organisations, the UIPI represents more than 5 million property owners in 28 countries across Europe. Based in Brussels, the UIPI’s main task is to ensure that property owners’ interests are represented and defended vis-à-vis European institutions. The UIPI is active in those areas of EU legislation and policy that have an impact on real estate, the building sector, the private-rented sector and property rights.

Profile

• EU national or have a valid Belgian work permit;
• Proficient in written and spoken English. Knowledge of additional EU languages is an asset;
• Recent graduate or a student in law, economics, political sciences or European studies;
• Good understanding of the EU decision-making process;
• Good written and verbal communication skills;
• Knowledge or interest in property law, real estate or climate & energy issues would be welcome;
• Fast learner, eager to learn about public affairs and lobbying and to gain experiences in project and association management.

Responsibilities:

Reporting to the UIPI Head of Public Affairs, the person appointed will:

• Monitor EU policy developments;
• Assist with research and projects;
• Contribute to internal and external communication;
• Attend meetings organised by EU institutions or other relevant stakeholders;
• Provide organisational support.

We offer:

• A stimulating first work experience within an EU affairs office;
• A full-time position for a period of 6 months (to be agreed upon);
• A monthly compensation.
