Overview:
One of the hallmarks of the Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI) is simultaneous and intensive engagement on the demand and supply sides of the market to improve access-to-medicines and diagnostics for patients in developing countries. While CHAI’s global access programme works to address supply-side barriers to access and to foster a healthy marketplace to ensure the sustainable supply of essential commodities at lower prices, CHAI’s country teams help governments understand the market, access lower prices, and facilitate the roll-out of new and improved products. Additionally, country teams work closely with governments to scale up and strengthen diagnosis, care and treatment programmes.
CHAI Swaziland is seeking a Volunteer, Access Programmes (New Initiatives), to assist in the evaluation of new project or commodity areas where patients face significant barriers to accessing effective, life-saving health care services. These areas may include: opportunistic infections related to HIV, vaccines, sexually transmitted infections, as well as use of new technologies to support the health system. The individual will help to perform needs assessments into key disease or commodity areas that are a priority for the Ministry of Health and help to identify appropriate interventions based on international examples of best practice or assessment of emerging products and technologies that could transform the Ministry’s ability to provide high-quality health care services
By identifying new opportunities, and appropriate interventions, CHAI may ultimately be able to help save more lives by ensuring greater access to diagnosis, care and treatment. We are accordingly seeking highly motivated individuals with outstanding analytical, communication and project development skills. The candidates must be able to function independently and flexibly, along with a deep personal commitment to producing the highest quality results. CHAI places great value on relevant personal qualities: resourcefulness, entrepreneurialism, tenacity, independence, humility, and work ethic.
