Cost Engineer/Junior Project Controls Manager

Our Client – Our market leading client supports organisations globally to succeed by enhancing the value and performance of projects and assets, during the construction and operation thereof in the Mining, petrochemical and Energy Industries.

My client I looking for a Cost Engineer/Junior Project Controls Manager to join their team in Mpumalanga to deliver standard, consistent and robust cost management frameworks and procedures on projects.

Job Description –

• Deliver consistent but appropriate cost management structures for medium-size, stand-alone projects.
• Roll-out Company standard tools and processes, as appropriate for each project's life cycle development & execution phase.
• Deliver cost management solutions for major, complex projects.
• Deliver cost plans to agreed standards in line with procedures.
• Develop project cost breakdown structures (CBS) and their population from the estimate.
• Prepare the Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) and documented Cost Time and Resource (CTR) sheets for phased cost estimates in line with Company guidance notes for agreement and sign-off by the CTR budget holders.
• Generate accurate monthly cost reports, highlighting variances from the plan on commitment, value of work done, management of changes and currency fluctuations against approved Authorities For Expenditure (AFEs).
• Contribute to the change management process on projects. Analyse trends and highlight the potential impacts of changes on cost.
• Assist in peer reviews and other Assurance events.
• Maintain and promote realism in the cost forecasts in the face of commercial pressure and optimism from project teams.
• Maintain consistency in cost bases through rigorous adherence to the controls processes.
• Raise awareness of the importance of developing the cost management structure in early project phases.

Candidate Requirements –

• Quantity Surveying Degree and/or Certification as a Cost Engineer or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 8 years industry experience in cost engineering positions.
• Excellent analytical, oral and written communication skills.
• Fully versed with Cost Control principles and techniques.
