Reporting to the Senior VAT Manager (Middle East & Africa) this position will: • Oversee the VAT controllership support provided to businesses in South Africa and other agreed Southern Africa countries • Deliver VAT reporting and related services to GE businesses • Ensure that all VAT returns and associated statistical filings for client businesses are filed and paid on time • Manage the VAT exemption process for GE businesses in the region • Complete a program of risk-based reviews of business VAT returns and associated processes to ensure accuracy of filings • Analysis of VAT documents for accuracy using thorough and in-depth knowledge of VAT regulations • Provide support during inspections and queries from local tax authorities • Communicate with business unit , tax leaders and other sub-contracted support functions • Drive standardization, automation and process improvements to ensure VAT compliance • Work with tax, finance and other sub-contracted support functions to document and support all significant VAT reporting • Support development and recommendation of VAT operational processes and internal policies • Training of finance, business and other sub-contracted support functions on the use of the GE on-line VAT return tool • Fee and Service Level Agreement negotiation with all client businesses and management of finances including budgets and cost liquidations | |
• Bachelor's Degree or equivalent. • Minimum 5 years of VAT experience with key focus on South African VAT compliance and associated declarations. • Demonstrated strong oral and written communication skills in English • Proven ability to work cross-functionally. • Proficient use of Microsoft Office (e.g. Excel, Word, PowerPoint). | |
• Local tax or professional accounting qualification. • Highly developed sense of customer services and ability to communicate in a multi-country, multi-cultural environment • Ability to anticipate, identify and resolve complex issues. • Experience managing projects. • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple priorities. • Experience in VAT across other Southern Africa countries an advantage. • Accounting or finance experience an advantage |
