Salary Scale: E1 - (P 349,704 – P363, 840 per annum)
The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism aims to protect the environment conserve the country’s natural resources and derive value out of the environment for the benefit of the Nation.
A talented, experienced, proactive, innovative, self driven and visionary candidate is sought to fill the above mentioned position in the Department of Wildlife and National Parks.
Benefits:
i) For new entrants into the Public Service, a
contract of 24 months with gratuity payable at the rate of 25% upon expiry of contract.

ii) In case of serving Public Officers;
• Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable staff (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).
• Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%) for Permanent and Pensionable staff.
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: A Degree in Wildlife Management/Environmental Sciences or related field.
Experience: A minimum of sixteen (16) years relevant work experience in the field of Environmental Management/Conservation, at least 2 years of which should have been served as Deputy Director-E2 salary grade in Government or equivalent in Private or Parastatal Organization.
Main Purpose of the Job
Provide policy direction and strategic leadership in all matters pertaining to Wildlife Natural Resources Management and other functions supporting the smooth operation of the Department.
Key Performance Areas
• Organize and provide leadership of the Department
• Enforce Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act and coordinate implementation of wildlife strategy and formulation of wildlife policies.
• Coordinate wildlife research, policy formulation and implementation and provide advice on the suitability of wildlife management interventions.
• Submit annual and other reports for the information of the Permanent Secretary/ Minister and keep them informed on all issues of importance
• Develop and review the vision and mission statement for the Department that are in keeping with the vision and mission of the Ministry
• Provide strategic leadership to the functions supporting the smooth operations of the department to ensure that they are able to achieve the mission of the Department
• Coordinate the development and implementation of financial management policies and practices that support and enable the Department to execute its work to achieve its mission.
• Promote national, regional and international cooperation and networking in matters of Wildlife management.
• Provide direction on responses to Parliament and or Council motions .and questions on issues related to Wildlife Management/resources.
• Develop and introduce appropriate management tools in order to improve productivity and general efficiency within the Department.
