Salary Scale: D2 (P218,592– P241,344 per annum)
The Ministry of Environment, Wildlife and Tourism aims to protect the environment conserve the country’s natural resources and derive value out of environment for the benefit of the nation.
A talented, experienced, proactive, innovative, and self-driven candidate is sought to fill the above-mentioned position in the Department of Wildlife and National Parks, Gaborone.
Benefits:
i) Optional Contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50% and employee pays 50%).
ii) Contributory Pension Scheme for Permanent and Pensionable staff (Government pays 15% and employee pays 5%).
Leave: 30 working days per annum.
Qualifications: A degree in Wildlife Management/Environmental Sciences or related fields.
Experience: A minimum of ten (10) years relevant work experience, at least 2 years of which should have been served on a managerial post of Principal Wildlife Officer II on D3 salary grade in Government or equivalent in the Private Sector or Parastatal Organization.
Main Purpose of the Job
To enforce Wildlife Conservation and National Parks Act and formulate policies, strategies and programmes promoting wildlife protection.
Key Performance Areas
• Coordinates development, implementation, maintenance and reviews of national wildlife policies, strategies and standards on Anti- poaching operations.
• Engages in collaboration in the management of Trans- boundary anti- poaching operations.
• Oversees implementation of Anti- poaching Units’ standing operating procedures.
• Inspects Anti- poaching detachments and operations.
• Provides specialist technical and professional expertise and guidance to stakeholders.
• Represents the department at bilateral Fora dealing with wildlife security issues.
• Seeks interpretation of wildlife related legislation with the Attorney Generals Chambers.
• Supervises the implementation of policies, strategies and programmes.
• Manages performance of subordinates.
• Coordinates investigations and prosecutions.
• Maintains acceptable disciplinary ethics as per required standards.
