DIRECTOR, INVESTMENT MANAGEMENT SERVICES

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB

To oversee the investments of the MDCB and supervise investment managers looking over fixed income and equity security portfolios. The position and investments will be guided by the MDCB Strategic Investment Plan.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Develop investment strategies and ensure alignment with business requirements.
• Oversee the development of investment and financial management operational plans and ensure implementation in line with performance standards.
• Develop and maintain the strategic and annual asset management plans aligned with the organisational strategy and budget and in consultation with the Government of Botswana where applicable.
• Establish and manage a system of controls to minimize losses and assist in establishing a risk management system
• Manage the divisional budget.
• Ensure development, availability and implementation of investment policies, processes and procedures.
• Implement policies and procedures to ensure compliance with business imperatives and relevant legislative requirements.

COMPETENCY REQUIREMENTS

• Proven track record of successful investment
• Proven debt-sourcing relationships.
• Proficiency in portfolio management; fixed income and equity investments; finding, structuring and closing profitable investments.
• Strong leadership and negotiation skills with ability to interact and influence at all levels.
• Excellent analytical, problem solving and project management skills
• Good interpersonal communication skills (verbal and written) with excellent presentation skills.
• Strong people management, coaching and mentoring skills

JOB REQUIREMENTS

• Bachelor's degree in a business r elated area or equivalent including Finance, Economics and Accounting.
• Master's Degree in Investment Management
• Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA).

EXPERIENCE

• Minimum of 12 years' post-qualification experience in a managerial position in an investment management or related environment
• Minimum of 5 years of which should have been in a senior management role.
