MANAGEMENT ACCOUNTANT

The Southview (Pty) Ltd invites applications from suitably qualified, dynamic and experienced professionals for the above vacant position.

Reporting to the Finance Manager, the Management Accountant assists in amongst other things the preparation of Management Accounts including product costing and cost allocations, cash flow forecasts and maintenance of various ledgers. The position will form part of the Group shared services finance function and will primarily support a manufacturing company which is part of the SouthView Group of Companies

Key Responsibilities

• Planning, Studying, and collecting data to determine costs of production of raw material purchases, inventory and labour.
• Analysing data collected and recording results for costing purposes
• Analysing changes in product design, raw materials, manufacturing methods or services provided, to determine effects on cost
• Analysing actual manufacturing costs and preparing periodic reports comparing standard costs to actual production costs
• Recording cost information for use in controlling expenditures
• Maintaining the inventory management system
• Compiling monthly and accurate management accounts for review by the Group Finance Manager and or the Group Chief Finance Officer.
• Preparing bi weekly cash flow forecasts for submission to the Group Finance Manager and or the Group Chief Finance Officer including assisting to monitor and manage the company cash flow
• Coordinating the preparation of accounting records for external and internal auditors including preparation of the annual financial statements
• Maintaining the fixed asset register.
• Assisting with the compilation of the annual budget including monitoring spend and reporting on the same.
• Undertake nominal ledger accounts reconciliations.
• Supervising and managing subordinates within the finance team.
• Approving payments in line with authority limits and acts as a co-cheque signatory.
• Overseeing stock control in the company including attendance to monthly stock takes.
• Ensuring prompt payment of service providers in line with service contracts
• Supervising all cashbook reconciliations
• Ensuring proper general ledger account allocation
• Processing all journals as approved.
• Performing any other duties as directed by the Group Finance Manager and/or the Group Chief Finance Officer and the Business Unit Head from time to time.

Qualifications and Experience Required
A minimum of an Accounting Degree, CIMA, ACCA, CPA or equivalent with 5-8 years post graduate relevant work experience, three (3) of which should be at a supervisory level.

The ideal candidate must have cost accounting experience in a manufacturing environment.
