MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT - MUPANE GOLD MINING

The Mupane Gold Mining invites applications for the following position:-

MECHANICAL SUPERINTENDENT

Reporting to the Metallurgical and Processing Engineering Manager, the preferred candidate will have a Higher National Diploma or Degree in Mechanical Engineering coupled with a minimum of 10 years’ experience in supervision of maintenance on a fixed plant operation in a gold mining environment

Requirements

The key areas of the job are:

• Assigns, supervises and reviews work of staff in the mechanical maintenance department.
• Implement production plans according to approved schedule.
• May participate in the full range of daily operational duties, performing the most difficult.
• Inspect and evaluate work in progress, identifies any problem areas, and may direct remedial action.
• Conduct performance evaluations on subordinates.
• Prepares estimates of the staffing, materials and equipment requirements for projected work activities.
• Maintains an inventory of parts and materials.
• Approves purchases of materials and equipment, maintains times, materials and equipment use report.
• Trains staff in safety procedures
• Maintains safety data sheets for crews.
• Development, implementation and successful management of preventive and predictive maintenance programs in the mechanical engineering section.
• Liaison with operations and electrical teams to develop and optimize maintenance systems
• Experienced in maintaining jaw and cone crushers, mills, screens, feeders, flotation plants, pumps, gearboxes, conveyor belts, cranes, fans, agitators, heat exchangers, boilers, pipelines and motors (DC, AC and Synchronous)

The successful candidate should have good computer skills including Microsoft packages particularly Microsoft Word, Excel & Projects and CAD software. The candidate must be a self-starter and should have good interpersonal skills. The candidate should also have a comprehensive knowledge of Mine Regulations.

The Mupane gold mine is located approximately 50 kilometres by road from Francistown in north eastern Botswana. In continuous operation since 2005, MGM has recently increased the operational life of mine and exploration activities are on-going to determine if there are further opportunities to develop additional resources.
