MECHANICAL ENGINEER - KHOEMACAU COPPER MINING

To be successful, the Khoemacau Copper Mining needs suitably qualified people to form part of its team. Currently the company is looking to recruit a Mechanical Engineer.

MECHANICAL ENGINEER

Purpose of the role:
Responsible for the delivery of quality maintenance and repair services at the Boseto process plant and associated facilities during the care and maintenance phase, as well as oversee plant modifications required for the resumption of mining.

Requirements

Key areas of responsibility:

• Ensures company mandated safety and environmental compliance
• Accepts personal responsibility for the health and safety of every mine worker under his/her supervision
• Ensures personal and team compliance with the behaviour and business practices outlined in Khoemacau’s policies and procedures in accordance with all applicable laws, regulations and standards
• Effectively lead, support, motivate, coach and counsel staff, ensuring that every team member has clearly defined accountabilities and goals
• Establishes and direct all care and maintenance activities, training programs and project initiatives required to accomplish the overall goals of the operations
• Resolves maintenance priorities in accordance with short term and long term project goals
• Prepares maintenance, safety, training and related procedures and ensures compliance
• Prepares budget, cost estimates and capital expenditure requests, making recommendations for the purchase of capital equipment, selection of vendors and performs capital evaluations for projects
• Ensures all equipment is properly serviced and maintained to meet availability goals required
• Ensures implementation of job and safety training programs
• Prepares reports as required
• Initiates projects and directs activities leading to continuous improvement of safety and maintenance goals
• Where applicable, ensures the transfer of skills from expatriate to local employees

Minimum qualifications, experience and skill requirements:

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering and at least 5 years post qualification experience in the maintenance of process plant equipment
• Demonstrated proficiency in computerised maintenance management systems (CMMS)
• Proven safety and people management experience
• Demonstrated knowledge of the Botswana Mines Quarries Works and Machineries Act
• Demonstrated management of process plant production and equipment maintenance
• Demonstrated experience in budgeting and cost control, long term planning and output
• Prior experience with statutory compliance reporting and communication
• Member of the Engineers Registration Board Botswana

Khoemacau Copper Mining (Pty) Ltd is a Botswana registered company that holds the rights to prospecting licences in North West Botswana. The company comprises two operations, namely the Boseto operation and the Zone 5 (Qhoree) operation.
