PhD (Biomedical Sciences/Medical Sciences) Fellowships - 4 Positions
Requirements
Successful candidates will join a team of researchers focused on HIV and TB biomedical research at Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership (BHP) and University of Botswana (UB). The fellows will be expected to register with University of Botswana for PhD (Biomedical Sciences or Medical Sciences) degree. For their PhD projects, the fellows will work on HIV and or TB related projects. The research projects will be developed in consultation with the BHP and UB supervisors. Opportunities exist for regional and international collaborations depending on the research project.
Qualifications and requirements
- M.Sc/MPhil degree in Biomedical Sciences, Medical Laboratory Technology, Biostatistics, Bioinformatics or Biological Sciences.
- At least 2 years research experience is required.
- At least 2 abstracts presented at international conferences or 1 publication in peer –reviewed journals.
- Age preferably 40 years or younger

Botswana Harvard AIDS Institute Partnership (BHP) and the University of Botswana (UB) are part of a Wellcome Trust funded consortium called Sub-Saharan Africa Network for TB and HIV research Excellence (SANTHE) under the Wellcome Trust’s DELTAs initiative. One of the main objectives of SANTHE is to build capacity in Sub-Saharan Africa through carrying out cutting edge research on HIV and TB aimed at coming up with strategies to reduce the burden of these infections.
