The Health International Division (HI) encompasses Health Development Africa (HDA) and HLSP brands, which specialise in the health sector, working in low & middle-income countries. In collaboration with international agencies & national governments, we work to advance and improve health systems
HDA sought to design an evidence-based tailor-made intervention to reduce HIV infections among female sex workers in taverns in Gert Sibande district, Mpumalanga province.The Amaqhawe Project seeks to prevent HIV infections in high prevalence districts in South Africa through a targeted intervention aimed at shebeens and tavern workers. Funded by CDC, this 5 year prevention programme will utilise a mixture of trainings, participatory social and behaviour change communication and interpersonal methods to achieve its goal.

Job Description
- Manage and undertake technical work in technical expertise areas - Quality assure (peer review) relevant technical work to assure standards of technical excellence in technical area of expertise - Keep up to date with international developments in public health and key technical area, ensuring that this knowledge is shared amongst the technical staff.
- Provide in-depth knowledge and intelligence on policy and priorities of key global and regional players in area of expertise (including but not limited to DFID, USAID, UNFPA, UNICEF, GFATM).
- Contribute as required to developing and quality assuring bids and projects across a range of technical initiatives - Provide technical advisory support and assistance for short and long term projects and delivering short term consultancy assignments - To contribute to all aspects of technical proposal design, working closely with finance colleagues to build informed and realistic commercial budgets - To identify partnership requirements relevant to individual tenders, and source and build relevant partnership structures - Develop a professional network through attendance at and presentation to conferences, seminars and meetings.
- Ensure proposals are of high quality and take responsibility for quality assurance of proposals Management of projects - Act as project manager/director where appropriate taking on the responsibility for the profitability of those projects - Provide critical technical review of client deliverables - Providing technical oversight in the design and set-up of new projects - Providing technical leadership and quality control of new and existing projects - Maintating customer relations; and liaison with USAID, UNAIDS, DFID and other donors - Working on short term technical assignments if and when appropriate - Responsible for the profitability and commercial viability of the project

Candidate Specification
The successful applicant will have the following:
- Post graduate degree in public health, epidemiology or related subject
- Significant experience in designing and managing M&E systems for large health projects
- Significant experience of developing M&E frameworks, indicators, data collection tools and reports - Have worked with USAID, CDC or similar
- Sector experience includes HIV Prevention, public health, USAID/CDC or SA government
- Computer literate in Word, PowerPoint and advance Excel
- Excellent organisational and written skills
- Good communication skills and team work
- Good data analysis skills
- Must be able to work independently
- Previous experience working with vulnerable groups
