This position is located in Bogota, Country Office in Colombia (COCOL), Integrated Programme and Oversight Branch (IPB), Division for Operations (DO) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC ). The Programme Officer (Chief Technical Adviser on Alternative Development) will work under the direct supervision of the UNODC Representative in Colombia and the substantive guidance from the Sustainable Livelihoods Unit (SLU) at UNODC Headquarters in Vienna. The focus of this job is to lead the development, implementation and evaluation of programme components, operations and activities under the Alternative Development Area in Colombia. Education
Advanced university degree (Master’s degree or equivalent) in business administration, management, economics or a related field, is required. A first-level university degree in similar fields in combination with two additional years of qualifying experience may be accepted in lieu of the advanced university degree.
Work Experience
A minimum of seven years of progressively responsible professional experience in Alternative Development projects with rural communities preferably in a tropical region is required. Working experience with developing and managing projects and advising/leading a team is required. Working experience with vulnerable rural communities is highly desirable.
Languages
English and French are the working languages of the United Nations Secretariat. For the post advertised fluency in Spanish and English, i.e. oral and written proficiency, is required. Knowledge of another United Nations official language is an advantage.
