Artisans: Electrician and Fitting

Duties and Resposibilities

- Prioritises and plans jobs in order to increase service efficiency.

- Use spares and equipment in a cost effective manner.

- Maintains equipment/plant in accordance with maintenance standards/procedures to ensure optimum availability.

- Monitors spares availability and appraises the Foreman.

- Attends to defects in order to reduce equipment/ plant downtime.

- Inspects equipment/plant to identify deviations and takes appropriate action.

- Carries out inspections as required to ensure proper completion of tasks.

- Provides feedback to the Foreman to consolidate takes performed, build history of the equipment/plant and make future plans.

- Troubleshoots/diagnose faults to identify and implement appropriate solutions.

- Installs and tests equipment to ensure it complies with components functionality.

- Carries out projects in the area of operation to improve the work efficiencies and equipment/plant availability within set targets.

- Updates the Forman on work progress to track deviations, correct them and allocate necessary resources.

- Introduces innovative ideas to improve equipment maintenance and safety standards.

- Prepares reports for completed tasks and submit to the Foreman for consolidation.

- Liaises with Stakeholders to ensure the achievement of sectional objectives.

- Adheres and promotes safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.

Qualifications and Requirements

- HT Switching and Gas Testing and experience for Electricians

- Flameproof Training and experience for both Electricians and Fitter

- 'O' Level/BGCSE certificate plus recognised National Craft Certificate in related Trade or equivalent

- Four year's post qualification experience in a heavy coal mining industry preferably

- Valid light duty Driver's Licence

- Knowledge of SHE management system (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001)

Special Working Conditions

Prospetive candidates must be medically and physically willing to work in an underground coal mine environment
