SENIOR LEGAL MANAGER

Requirements

The Bank is looking for a seasoned, dynamic, highly-driven Legal Executive with strong leadership skills to undertake the role Senior Legal Manager. The incumbent will be responsible for rendering comprehensive legal advice on all agreements with emphasis on drafting, reviewing, negotiating and approving for execution legal documents in transactional matters including commercial contracts, operating agreements, lease management contracts and all manner of transactional documentation. The incumbent will also be responsible for litigation management and oversight.
Further to this, the Senior Legal Manager will be tasked with the Preparation of legal agreements, regularisation of any non-standard Credit documentation to ensure adherence with Credit sanction and policy, ensure compliance with all relevant laws, regulations and bank policies and procedures,where required provide guidance to Credit Evaluation team in respect of conditions of sanction required for mitigation of credit and risk.
In addition, the incumbent will be responsible for the provision of legal advice and opinions on Credit related matters, e.g. Credit impact of legislation, policy, collections etc, signing-off of new products or product amendments from a Credit legal perspective in line with procedures, drafting of non standard agreements and other Credit/ transactional legal documentation.
The incumbent will be expected to serve the needs of clients as business partners by providing value added legal services such as counselling clients on regulatory and general business considerations, and advising management regarding legal risks and exposures.
Key to the incumbents deliverable is the provision of accurate, expert and specialist legal advice to business partners (that is, Credit and business units and related business units), including the identification, research, interpretation and evaluation of information, assist business partners with the preparation of agreements including standard English credit agreements for the domestic market (“credit agreements”) and/or credit legal documentation, contracts and/or specialised or non-standard collateral.
To be considered for this position, you will need an appropriate legal qualification (BA / BCom LLB / BProc LLB), be admitted as an Attorney, understand business principles and processes in CIB, including the legal environment in which CIB operates, be computer literate.
The incumbent should have at least 3-4 years’ post qualification experience in a similar environment.
