Qualifications:Diploma

Experience:A minimum of two (2) years post qualification experience in the computing field of which must have been spent as a technician providing end user support in a medium sized organization

Details:The Department of Information Technology (IT) provides Information and Communication Technologies (ICT) services to support teaching,learning,research and administrative business activities of the University. The Information Technology Department provides service to the University based upon these three goals

1) Provide quality services and appropriate state of the art ICT infrastructure and business applications,with seamless and secure access that support learning,teaching and research,and administrative functions

2) Manage ICT service delivery and service support bench-marked against best practice Service Management guidelines
3) Establish an ICT infrastructure and services that enable cost reduction,cost sharing,cost recovery and income generation to offset the cost of ICT service provision

DEMONSTRABLE KNOWLEDGE AND PRACTICAL EXPERIENCE

* Knowledge of IT infrastructure and end user computing
* Knowledge of operating systems including UNIX,LINUX,Microsoft Windows and Windows Server.
* Knowledge and practical experience of PC hardware and Software is essential
* Knowledge and experience in planning and deploying Local and Wide Area Networks on the basis of latest IP technologies

DUTIES

* The successful candidate will be expected to provide User Support and install computer software and hardware such as servers,end user computer peripheral devices,and make recommendation of appropriate user-end computing technologies and standards.
* The applicant will also be expected to implement and ensure adherence to policies and procedures for carrying out computer operations and maintenance in the faculty and support departments
