Independent Trustee on the Board of Trustees for Mascom Wireless Staff Pension Fund

Duties and Resposibilities

The incumbent will be responsible for the following.

- Inform the Regulatory Authority in writing, of any information relating to the affairs of the fund, which in their opinion may seriously prejudice the financial soundness of the fun of its member.

- Act independently and exercise powers in a manner that is impartial and not influenced by inappropriate considerations.

- Ensure that fund is financially sound, reasonably managed and governed in accordance with the rules and the Act.

- Ensure that adequate and appropriate information is communicated to the members and beneficiaries of the fund informing them of the rights, duties and benefits;

- Provide general retirement fund expertise to the Board and attend quarterly Board meetings.

Qualifications and Requirements

- The Suitable candidate must have a Bachelor's Degree in Finance/ Investments/ Actuarial Science/ Economics. A Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA) or relevant qualification will be an added advantage.

- Furthermore experience as a trustee will be an added advantage.

Experience

The suitable candidate should have 5 years relevant experience and expertise in the following areas:

- Sound knowledge of corporate governance

- Experience in the retirement fund industry

- Experience in financial investment/ capital markets;

- Excellent communication skills; and

- The individual must be of good standing to be approved by the regulatory authority (NBFIRA) to be an Independent Trustee.

Special Working Conditions

The independent Trustee shall hold office for the three (3) year period.
