To plan, coordinate, organize and control the Authority’s road transport fleet in the most cost effective manner so as to optimize availability of transport as required.
Requirements
Education:
A Diploma in Transport/ Fleet Management/ Transport Planning or related field in a reputation organization.
Experience:
At least four (4) years post qualification in Transport/ Fleet Management/ Transport Planning and the supervision of drivers.

Core Areas of Responsibility:
- Reviews the Authority’s fleet road transport requirements and makes recommendations for the most cost effective means of meeting transport requirements
- Identifies and recommends suitable vehicles to meet the Authority’s requirements in the most cost effective manner
- Assists in the preparation of tenders for vehicles, fuel, service contractors etc, and negotiations with suppliers
- Prepares and monitors the implementation of driver roster to ensure the availability of scheduled and non-scheduled transport as required
- Issues instructions to drivers and monitors and checks their activities to ensure compliance with company driving standards
- Reviews serviceability of vehicles and ensures that all vehicles are serviced in accordance with manufacturers specifications; liaises with garages on service and repair issues
- Issues fuel books and log books; monitors consumption and other performance indictors to optimize cost effective use of vehicles
- Ensures that vehicles are licensed on time and that the drivers are in possession of appropriate licenses as required
- Computes monthly fuel statistics and records and recommend the changes to the supervisor
- Obtaining repair quotations from private dealers and garages and initiate payments
- Maintains vehicle inventory and investigates losses
