Requirements

Main Purpose of the Role

Strategic Alignment:
Development of IT strategies, policies and processes

• Formulate IT strategies, policies and processes for the Group in line with overall BIHL business strategy to support the successful achievement of the company’s strategic objectives
• Ensure that IT strategies and policies enable subsidiaries to provide client service in such a way that it will maximize their productivity and contribution to achieve the objectives of the company
• Monitor IT and general technology trends and developments in the financial services sector globally, and recommend changes and amendments to the Group’s IT policies and practices accordingly

I.T Security

• Ensure that a sufficient and relevant policy framework exists for the protection of internal and external threats to the security of BIHL business information
• Develop processes to ensure constant monitoring of security and appropriate response to security threats as they arise
• Conduct security audits with the assistance of neutral resources in order to establish consistent security improvement plans

Project Management and System Development

• Ensure that the I.T department takes a leading and key role in the development of any new IT systems
• Provide IT Project Management services to all technology projects for the subsidiaries
• Provide and review project management standards and guidelines for IT projects and ensure that they are adhered to

Service Level Agreements (SLA’s)

• Run the corporate server environment and provide desktop support to all subsidiaries
• Develop and implement a framework for service performance management to ensure objective and sustainable management of individual SLA’s that have been agreed with subsidiaries
• Constantly monitor performance against all SLA’s – whether they are between any subsidiary and internal or outsourced IT service providers

Qualifications
The ideal candidate must possess the following:

• A relevant Bachelor’s degree is critical
• A post graduate qualification such as a Masters of Business Administration (MBA) from a recognized institution will be an added advantage

Work Experience

• A minimum of ten (10) years post qualification experience in the IT Sector. Experience in the Financial Services Sector (life insurance business, investment funds management, banking and/or any other financial service) will be an added advantage.
• At least five (5) years of these should have been in general management capacity or managerial leadership with responsibility for strategic planning, budgeting, recruitment, and profit accountability
• Appreciation of technical concepts or demonstration of sound technical experience
