Legal Advisor

Overall Job Purpose

• Reporting principally to Legal Counsel to provide legal support to Botswana
• To assist in identifying and managing legal risk in Botswana, liaising directly with the business as appropriate
• To provide company secretarial support to BBB and its subsidiaries and to assist Group Company Secretaries in monitoring and compliance of policies and the provision of high level information

Experience and Qualifications

• Attorney (or equivalent)
• 5 years PQE
• Management; experience of direct/indirect reports
• Experience of a significant number of those areas of business law relevant to Barclays Africa Strategic Business Unit (SBU) namely Company Law, lending, products litigation, employment law, commercial contracts
• Understanding of SBU’s strategy, business and markets
• Strong technical legal ability
• Knowledge of Financial Services sector
• Understanding of Barclays Group strategy, business & markets
• Wide experience and full understanding of legal risk management
• Wide experience of a significant number of those areas of business law relevant to Barclays Africa Strategic Business Unit (SBU) namely Company Law, lending, products litigation, employment law, and commercial contracts.
• Company secretarial, compliance and investor relations

Portfolio Manager - Retail Credit Risk

Overall Job Purpose

• Responsibility for the management of the portfolio(s) across the Credit Life Cycle in aggregate, which comprises of the following
• Product Planning
• Credit Initiation
• Account Maintenance
• Fraud Management
• Collections & Recoveries
• Responsible for developing and adhering to business mandate and scale triggers for all products
• Setting of product risk appetite and strategies
• Policy formulation / circulars – owner of the portfolio Risk policies and Procedures and Manuals
• Provide input into developing and review of Portfolio modeling
• Analysis of management Information with appropriate recommendations to the Head of Credit
• Liaison with product/business managers and owners
• Initiate, agree and monitor Collection and Recoveries strategies
• Accountability for all Credit scorecard design, implementation and review
• Input into Junior Consumer Credit Risk staff Performance development
• Agree and be responsible for all change initiatives in portfolio

Requirements

Main Accountabilities

• Monitoring the quality of a designated corporate & Enterprise Banking portfolio to ensure problem

• Deliver high quality & consistent Controls and Compliance over corporate
• Risk Management
• Business Risk Partnership

Experience and Qualifications

• B-degree in Finance or economics (or related field)
• 3 years in a credit risk environment
