INFORMATION TECHNOLOGY ADMINISTRATOR

Job Summary
To maintain the computer hardware and software infrastructure in line with the company’s information system requirements.

Requirements

Key Effectiveness Areas

• Manages and monitors the utilisation of supplies and equipment.
• Evaluates and/or recommend purchases of computers, network hardware, peripheral equipment, and software ensuring adherence to company standards.
• Install, configure, and maintain personal computers, networks, workstations, file servers, network cabling, and other related equipment, devices, and systems.
• Designs and deploys networks to meet the company objectives.
• Prepares the required budgets for the Morupule Coal Mine’s computer and network requirements.
• Investigate user problems, identify their source, determine possible solutions, test and implement solutions.
• Monitors the performance of the network, systems and applications to identify and correct malfunctions.
• Maintain site licenses for ensuring they are up-to-date.
• Plans and implement s network security to prevent breaches.
• Troubleshoot networks, systems, and applications to identify and correct malfunctions and other operational difficulties.
• Provides technical support on installed systems by: backups – in case of data loss, online communication with system vendors.
• Provides helpdesk facilities to computer users.
• Adheres to and promotes safety, health and environmental policies and procedures.

Minimum requirements

• Diploma in IT or related discipline or recognised IT industry certification.
• 3 years’ experience in an IT environment.
• Certificate in CCNA (Switching and Routing) and CCNA (Wireless) will be an added advantage.
• Knowledge of SHE Management Systems (ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001).

Morupule Coal Mine is a coal mining company in botswana situated 14 kilometres west of palapye along Serowe/Palapye road and mines coal primarily for generation of electricity in botswana.
