The Chief Compliance Officer – GE Africa will be responsible for maintaining and strengthening the GE compliance program across Sub-Saharan Africa region. This role will be responsible for developing and monitoring the GE Compliance program and agenda across the region. This includes assessing the risk across multiple jurisdictions, developing a vision for the organization, developing key talent in the team, engaging other GE Africa senior leaders in understanding and mitigating key risks. | |
Risk Assessment: Ensure rigorous programs to monitor and control the company's key risks, including: -Improper Payments: drive rigorous process on third party diligence and monitoring, gifts and entertainment, business courtesy monitoring; -Controllership & Finance: Partner with regional controllership and finance team to develop and monitor controls in customs, sourcing & finance. -Collect and report on information about risk areas: e.g., early warning system, metrics & testing. Forensic investigation Response: lead forensic role for the GE integrity program in the region, including ownership for forensic investigations, ensuring a vibrant rhythm exists to engage leaders on integrity at all levels and establishing a world-class culture of compliance. Including leading forensic investigations in country / region and manage a network of distributed investigators. Team development: Developing and building Compliance, Ombudsman, and Investigation teams in region, including full-time & part time resources. Training: Implement a strategy that results in effective annual employee training, including training for new hires, training for leaders, and training for employees whose job responsibilities require specialized training on top risks. Design and execute on a robust communication program to promote employee awareness about their obligations for integrity. A thorough understanding of Risk Appetite evaluation & Control Theory and Application. Follow-up: Implement a process to track, follow-up, and report on key initiatives identified through the Compliance Operating Review, GE Africa's Compliance Review Board ; investigations. | |
University graduate with experience of working in a multinational corporate environment. Prior experience with Improper Payment prevention programs, establishment and operation of corporate ethics/compliance programs 15+ years' experience in related areas (compliance, legal, audit, etc.) with strong performance Forensic investigation & open reporting experience (or equivalent) Ability & willingness to travel up to 50% of time Strong critical thinking skills. Ability to assess various complex issues and come to quick solutions Reasoned judgement ability Ability to work in a global matrixed organization. Experience of working in multiple African countries Experience in the implementation of global anti-corruption laws, especially FCPA, and UK Bribery Act Experience working in a large multi-national compliance program | |
