2014 PRIMARY SCHOOL LEAVING EXAMINATION (PSLE) RESULTS RELEASED
Botswana Examinations Council (BEC) has released the 2014 Primary School Leaving Examinations (PSLE) results. A total of 42797 candidates wrote the 2014 examination showing a reduction in candidature of 2.26% from the 2013 candidature of 43775.
Overall performance indicates that the proportion of candidates obtaining an overall Grade C or better went up by 1.58% from 67.62% in 2013 to 69.20% in 2014. The percentage of candidates obtaining Grade A in this examination is at 14.20% against 12.77% last year representing an increase of 1.43%. Currently there are 17.35% of candidates at Grade B compared to 17.57% in 2013, representing a slight decrease of 0.22%. At the lower grades, 5.22% of the candidates obtained Grade E compared to 5.81% in 2013, a slight improvement of 0.58%.
Compared to 2013 there has been significant improvement in Agriculture by 2.97% and 3.32% in Mathematics.
Symbols used in the Results
• U denotes that a candidate failed to meet minimum requirements for grade E.
• X denotes that a candidate failed to meet the requirements for the award of the qualification.

Distribution of the Results
• All centres will receive copies of their results delivered at the sub-regional and regional offices through Express Mail Service (EMS).
Regional offices will access the results through Malepa System as well as through CDs which will be delivered through EMS.

PSLE results are also available from BEC website (www.bec.co.bw) and can be accessed as follows:
1. Open the web browser (Internet Explorer or Mozilla Firefox or Google Chrome) and type www.bec.co.bw to open the Botswana Examinations Council website.
2. Click on the “Results” tab on the navigation bar.

3. Click “My Results” on the gold navigation bar that pops up
4. In the “Examination” drop down combo box, select the Examination(in this case select PSLE)e.g PSLE
5. In the “Year” textbox type the year (In this case type 2014) eg 2014
6. In the “Center Number” textbox type your school’s Center Number
The center number should be 6 characters beginning with the letters“PS”. For example, if your school’s center number is 812, type PS0812, if your school’s center number is 2714, type PS2714 The system will not accept center number without the prefix PS e.g PS0101
7. In the “ Candidate Id” textbox type your Candidate Number. The system accepts a candidate number with leading zeros and without leading zeros. For example, if your candidate number is 0008, you may type 0008 or 008 or 08 or 8 and the system will accept any of them e.g 0001
8. In the “Surname’’ text box type your Surname. The Surname is not Case Sensitive e.g Moithuti
9. Click the “ Show Results ” button.This should display your results indicating the Exam cycle,Year, Center/School subjects and overall grade.
Note:
• The data entry formats for the Website and the SMS are different
• Ensure that both your school’s center number and Candidate number are correct.
• Candidates should ensure that their entire subjects are included in the response.
• Only the subjects they have been assessed on are included in the response.
• Results can be queried within 6 weeks of their release
