A new senior leadership position to drive the Commonwealth’s development agenda
A high-profile appointment, this position offers the opportunity to develop, manage and deliver pioneering technical assistance programmes that will make a tangible difference to millions across the Commonwealth, while broadening your career horizons.
Using vast senior management experience gained in public sector reform and the governance of maritime and natural resources, you will lead a team of technical advisors and operational staff in assisting member countries to enhance the delivery of their public services, and efficiently manage their natural resources through the delivery of targeted and innovative technical assistance projects.
This appointment is integral to the Secretariat’s Senior Management Group, influencing overall development strategies and policies; providing thought leadership; advising the Secretary-General and Deputy Secretary-General (Economic and Social Development) in highly specialised areas; and providing management oversight to dedicated and experienced teams.
The ideal candidate will have:
- A minimum of a Degree in public sector management, administration, economics, international law, development or a related social science discipline.
- A minimum of 10 years’ experience at senior management level, directing a team of professionals, in a governmental or in an international organisation
- Extensive experience of public sector development reform and/or of governance issues related to maritime and other natural resources management
- Substantial experience working in developing countries and prior field-based development experience will be assets.
