VACANCY: PRINCIPAL OCCUPATIONAL THERAPIST I –D2
Applications are invited from all suitably qualified candidates for the above position in the Ministry of Health, Department of Clinical Services, tenable at Sekgoma Memorial Hospital and Scottish Livingstone Hospital.
SALARY:
D2 (P238, 668-P263, 508) per annum

BENEFITS:
a) Optional contributory Medical Aid Scheme (Government pays 50%, Employee 50%).

QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor of Science in Occupational Therapy / Bachelor of Occupational Therapy.
Applicants must be registered with Botswana Health Professions Council.
EXPERIENCE:
A minimum of ten (10) years’ work experience in a related area, of which two (2) years should have been served at D3 level in the Public Service or equivalent level in a Parastatal or Private Sector Organisation.
MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB:
To coordinate and provide Occupational Therapy services in the facility.
KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
:
1. Assesses and treats patients who need specialized Occupational Therapy
2. Prescribes assistive devices for patients
3. Educates and informs patients, families and the public on occupational therapy.
4. Monitors patients’ progress.
5. Develops, reviews and monitors implementation of Occupational Therapy policies and procedures at facility level.
6. Monitors adherence to best Occupational Therapy practices.
7. Coordinates Occupational Therapy services.
8. Produces reports on Occupational Therapy services.
9. Coordinates occupational therapy research activities.
10. Refers patients and liaises with other health professionals for continuity of care.
11. Prepares departmental budget estimates.
12. Monitors procurement of equipment and materials.
