CARE Australia, recruiting on behalf of CARE International , is seeking experienced and motivated people to join its WASH emergency response roster. As part of the emergency response roster you will be called up for short term deployments in humanitarian emergencies across the globe. CARE is internationally recognised for its capacity and effectiveness in responding to humanitarian emergencies and assisting people whose lives have been torn apart. It has been on the frontlines of many of the worst crises in recent times—from the typhoon-devastated Philippines, to the violence-ravaged Syria and South Sudan. Being part of our Roster will give you an opportunity to use your skills and experience in the WASH sector and to be at the centre of action when CARE responds to major humanitarian disasters. You will be responsible for assessment, design and implementation of the water, sanitation and hygiene component of CARE's emergency response. These deployments involve a great level of responsibility and are an amazing opportunity to make a difference to the lives and communities of the world's poorest and most vulnerable. CARE is seeking applications from candidates with 5+ years international humanitarian WASH experience in the following specialisms :
WASH Coordinators/Managers, with experience of project design, implementation, coordination, needs assessment etc.
WASH and Gender Specialists
Engineers with skills in municipal water supply and sewage systems, or rural wash (hand pumps, wells, pit latrines etc).
Hygiene Promoters All candidates must be able to demonstrate their understanding of the needs of women and children in emergency settings. Applicants must be available for rapid deployment on short term contracts (typically from 2 weeks to 2-3 months).
