Project Manager: Resilience
Location: Any country where AAI has offices
2 years fixed term contract – Project ends 31st March 2016
Salary: £31, 617
The post will be part of the International Humanitarian Action and Resilience Team (IHART), contributing to resilience programming to ensure successful implementation of ActionAid’s multi-country two year project on “Developing Hazard Programming frameworks; and Strengthening Urban Resilience”.
Key responsibility areas include, but are not limited to:
• Ensure an effective planning, monitoring, reviewing and reporting process between countries engaged in the project.
• Develop a highly motivated project team of country focal persons in the context of matrix arrangement.
• Provide technical support – both online and onsite - to countries on resilience as per agreed country engagement plans
• Organise online and face to face meetings with countries for learning and sharing and provide support where necessary.
• Link project learning and outputs across countries to regional and international level with agreed goals and performance indicators linked to the project.
• Prepare an overall annual plan and budget. Ensure that financial management of the project is consistent with the funder DFID - PPA contract and ActionAid’s requirements.
• Produce progress reports in line with the project contract and in coordination with AAUK Programme and Partnership Arrangement (PPA) focal person to achieve these outcomes:
• Ensure that ActionAid’s Project Accountability Team is kept updated with the progress of the project and alerted to any issues arising in a timely manner.
Person Specification
• Relevant degree / Masters or equivalent
• At least 5 years experience working in an international agency, with multi-country project management experience.
• Technical expertise in a field related to Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR), urban resilience and/or climate adaptation and/or experience developing and delivering projects and frameworks in this field.
• Strong analytical, report writing, and presentation skills (in English), including the ability to present complex issues clearly and concisely.
• Working experience in African and Asian contexts
• Excellent leadership, negotiation, facilitation and communication skills.
• Proven record of success in large scale project management especially involving sub-grants and consultants.
• Comprehensive understanding of rights-based approaches on improving and the potential to link this work to national and international influencing work.
