Child Safeguarding Manager (m/f)

Objective
Child Safeguarding is an organizational priority as we strive to make CBM safe for children. Without Child Safeguarding having a strong foundation within our organization many of the achievements of CBM and its Partners in the field of inclusive development could be undermined. The CBM Child Safeguarding Manager will lead the implementation of the Child Safeguarding Policy and its Protocols / Guidelines across the CBM Family/ e.V.
The key responsibilities will combine elements of capacity building and monitoring whilst enforcing compliance and accountability, management and investigation.
Main tasks
- Establish an effective Child Safeguarding system across the CBM Family
- Establish and maintain effective auditing, accountability and reporting mechanisms including undertaking, managing and commissioning investigations and reporting to the CBM Executive Management Team and CBM’s governing bodies as well as its Member Associations
• Initiate, manage and support investigations in order to ensure that concerns are followed up safely, effectively and efficiently and to the required standards
• Provide guidance for Crisis Management Team processes and Case Management
- Improve the organizational compliance with CBM’s Child Safeguarding
Policy within all CBM offices worldwide through accountability and governance measures
- Manage, support and develop the Child Safeguarding Focal Persons in the CBM Regional Offices
- Represent CBM at global safeguarding networks such as the Keeping Children Safe Coalition
- Hold responsibilities as the Child Safeguarding Focal Point for the CBM International Office in Bensheim, with responsibility for advising, reporting internally and referring to external authorities when a Child Safeguarding case arises, in line with the organization’s procedures
- Oversee and enforce follow-up in order to ensure maximum levels of compliance and competence
- Comply with the Child Safeguarding Policy, Code of Conduct and all staff Policies
- Manage and improve the case management system and reporting system
- Effectively manage existing budget/resources and maximize opportunities to increase funding in this area
- Improve organizational compliance with the Child Safeguarding Policy through capacity building and development measures
- Develop the capacity of CBM, our partners and the sector in this field to safeguard the children we work with through strategic partnerships and representation
- Apply critical analysis to ensure that we live up to our commitment to making and keeping CBM safe for children by ensuring child safeguarding concerns are reported effectively in line with the policy
Professional Profile and Requirement
- Minimum of 5 years in a Child Safeguarding position preferably in an international not-for-profit organisation
- Demonstrable track record of success in a senior Child Safeguarding role
- In-depth knowledge and experience of Child Safeguarding issues, including legal frameworks, policy and best practice
- Relevant degree or professional qualification
- Conceptual thinker with a proven ability to develop and implement strategies, concepts and guidelines
- Understanding of Child Safeguarding within the context of humanitarian and development programmes
- A good understanding of the particular safeguarding needs of children with disabilities would be an added advantage
- Extensive experience of implementing Child Safeguarding policies and training/capacity building
- Knowledge in MS Office, MS Sharepoint and MS Navision solutions
- Language skills: English professional proficiency; German, French and Spanish advantageous
