Duties and Resposibilities
Under the supervision of the Programme Manager, the incumbent will work independently through adhering to GIZ's rules and regulations,
- Support and provide advice on knowledge management and knowledge dissemination of Climate-Smart-Agriculture measures
- Support and advice on the most appropriate and practical ways for increasing the capacity of stakeholders to disseminate and finance climate-smart practices in agriculture value chains
- Support climate proofing of strategies and policies as well as climate proofing of priority agriculture value chains
- Support capacity development within the partner institution CCARDESA and for further implementation partners of the project
- Capture and elaborate lessons learnt from pilot projects and studies and to contribute to an active knowledge management.
Qualifications and Requirements
- Master's Degree in agriculture or environmental studies or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10 years' professional experience in with international development partners, preferably in African countries and institutions.
- At least 5 years work experience in a comparable position.
- Broad knowledge about climate change adaptation and especially in the field of agriculture.
- Knowledge/Work experience in Climate Proofing of Agriculture Values Chains.
- Experience in planning and implementing feasibility studies and model applications/piloting of climate smart agriculture practices and technologies.
- Experience in climate-proofing of policies, strategies, programmes and investments.
- Practical experience in supervision of subcontractors, including quality control of products and deliverables.
- Experience in management and coordination - especially in developing effective networks, knowledge sharing and knowledge management.
Competencies
- Very good knowledge of ICT technologies and computer applications
- Excellent written oral knowledge of English, knowledge of Portuguese and French would be an added advantage
- Excellent communication and report writing skills
- Experience in stakeholder involvement processes
- Team player with efficient and result oriented work-stile, strategic and able to work independently
- Experience in capacity development of partner organisation
- Willingness to travel frequently including to remote areas in the SADC region
- Driver's licence.
