This role is an Executive position and reports to the Mine General Manager.

Job Summary
To provide strategic direction to the Human Resource department, manage, coordinate, control and give advice on all human resources related activities across the Mine, ensuring the effective use of resources in the achievement of departmental and operational objectives.

Requirements

Minimum requirements
  • Degree in Social Sciences or equivalent
  • 10 years post qualifi cation experience, 5 of which should have been at Human Resources Management level
  • Management Development Program or equivalent
Key Effectiveness Areas
  • Manages human resources at the operation through recruitment and selection, orientation, training, coaching, counseling, manpower planning, talent acquisition, employee retention, records management, remuneration, employee relations, and change management.
  • Ensures implementation of the HR strategy in line with the business strategy.
  • Leads implementation of best practice HR business partnering philosophy across business to ensure the achievement of Operational goals.
  • Provides guidance and ensures implementation of talent management objectives by ensuring that such activities are appropriate to meeting current and future manpower requirements.
  • Proactively identifi es and ensures implementation of creative and innovative ideas and process to enable continuous business improvement.
  • Interprets operational human resources requirements, and ensures manpower availability to meet business objectives.
  • Responsible for the approval, monitoring, and utilization of the HR budget to enable the attainment of departmental objectives.
  • Ensures implementation of climate improvement/ employee relations initiatives to create an enabling environment for effective employee relations management.
  • Manages performance management process at the operation to optimize performance based pay practices and the development of appropriate skills and competencies to support the business and employee aspirations.
  • Responsible for and manages the overall departmental safety, health and environmental programme in line with operational strategy and objectives.
  • Leads, directs, motivates and develops the HR team to ensure provision of the right level of service and support to the business.
  • Manages the implementation of, and adherence to legal and corporate governance requirements in area of responsibility
  • Establishes and maintains effective relationships with all key stakeholders and partners to ensure achievement of business objectives.
