SCHOOL OF CHEMICAL & METALLURGICAL ENGINEERING
FIVE YEAR CONTRACT
The Faculty of Engineering and the Built Environment invites applications for the Headship of the School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering.
The Head will lead the School in establishing and maintaining a position of excellence. He/she will need vision, strong managerial skills and senior experience. The Head should also have standing as a researcher and an academic and/or professional experience in leading research groups. The ability to liaise with industry and to fund raise is a desirable attribute. A first degree in Chemical or Metallurgical Engineering (or closely related field) is desired.
The School of Chemical and Metallurgical Engineering has a substantial undergraduate enrolment and provides supervision for postgraduates and post doctorates in highly active world class research groups.
The appointment is for a fixed period of 5 years though this period may be shortened by mutual agreement to no less than 3 years. After this 5 year contract has elapsed, the incumbent may seek another term or may be integrated into a senior teaching and research position in the school. If the appointee is an existing member of the permanent staff he/she would revert to his/her previous academic position.
