KEY PERFORMANCE AREAS
Under the supervision of the Director, African Biosafety Network Expertise (ABNE) or his/her delegate, the Senior Programme Officer Legal/Policy - Biosafety is part of the African Biosafety Network Expertise (ABNE) Regional Project Centre that provides science based information and technical support to biotechnology regulatory agencies on the continent. The incumbent works with the Director and Programme officers to provide legal, policy and administration advisory services with regards to biotechnology and biosafety to ABNE, AU member states and Sub-regional organisations.

- increase the visibility of AU/NEPAD objectives among the African Group and the international community at large and ensure that African interests, at continental, regional, and national level, are well taken into account in the conceptualization of the Post‐2015 Development Framework and in the formulation of Sustainable Development Goals;
- strengthen collaboration among member states, partners in the United Nations (UN) system, African government officials, private sector, academia, civil society and other stakeholders; and
- mobilize support and raise awareness around the African Common Position (ACP), the “African” SDGs, and the African Agenda 2063.
