A vacancy exists for Superintendent Drill & Shovel Maintenance in the Mine Maintenance Department.  Reporting to the Manager Mine Maintenance, the successful candidate will be responsible for safely leading and managing a team of people to execute maintenance on the Drill and Shovel fleets and on mining Electrical Infrastructure.

 

Key Performance Areas:

• Maintaining and leading Health, Safety & Environmental Standards
• Manage and develop teams to achieve and sustain challenging equipment availability and reliability targets
• Develop maintenance strategies and execute maintenance according to Rio Tinto guidelines and industry best practice.
• Supporting the mine operations team to achieve production targets
• Implementation and ownership of the defect elimination process
• Compilation and control of annual and 5 yearly budgets
• Effectively manage and utilize all resources
• Continuously identify and implement improvement ideas

Minimum Requirements:

• Grade 12 with 20 points
• A recognised Bachelor of Engineering Degree (BEng) or Bachelor of Technology Degree (BTech) or Bachelor of Science in Mechanical or Megatronic Engineering
• Code BE (08) driver’s license (should at least be one year old)
• 5 years for Bachelors’ holders or 7 years working experience for B.Tech holders of which 3 years should be in a supervisory capacity
• Previous experience in HME maintenance will be an added advantage
