Job Title: CONTRACT TRANSPORT PLANNER/TEAM LEADER 

Reporting to: Regional Director/Project Manager 

Main Purpose of Job:

To undertake specific assignments as part of projects in developing countries, on a contract basis, as required. To lead field based teams on a range of urban and rural transport planning assignments

Scope of Job:

Potential roles involve either leading or working as part of project teams, preparing national and regional transport master plans, feasibility studies, institutional capacity development programmes and providing advice to a range of clients. Specific assignments will be undertaken on a contract basis, as required.

Duties and Key Responsibilities:

1)               Complete technical inputs on a wide range of projects as required by Project Managers.

2)               Lead field based project teams and lead relevant tasks within a project, including supervising the work of others, as appropriate.

3)               As team leader, support the Regional Director and Project Manager in the successful delivery of project requirements, including client liaison, financial management and quality assurance of project deliverables.

4)               Assignments will generally be overseas based, and undertaken individually and as part of inter-disciplinary teams.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience:

a)                Degree in geography, economics, civil engineering or a similar subject and a Master’s degree in a related subject.

b)                A minimum of 10 years post-graduate experience, including at least 5 years working on developing country assignments.

c)                Experience in as many of the following as possible:

·          Urban and rural transport master planning;

·          Public transport planning and regulation;

·          Development and implementation of stakeholder consultation strategies;

·          Demand forecasting and modelling;

·          Environmental and social screening and impact appraisal;

·          Institutional assessments and needs analyses;

·          Delivery of training and capacity development programmes;

·          Development and implementation of multi-criteria analysis frameworks;

·          Economic and financial appraisal of transport investments;

·          Policy and strategy development.
