VACANCY CIRCULAR NO 36 OF 2014
Applications are invited suitably qualified Local Authorities employees for the above mentioned post tenable in North West District Council.
SALARY: D4 (165300-182496) per annum.
LEAVE: 30 working days per annum.
BENEFITS: Contributory Pension Scheme (Govt pays 15% employee pays 5%).
Optional Medical Aid Scheme (govt pays 50% employee pays 50%).
QUALIFICATION: LLB
EXPERIENCE: At least 2 years as State Counsel I/ Counsel Attorney at C1.

MAIN PURPOSE OF THE JOB
To provide counseling and legal services, on all matters pertaining to local Authority.
DUTIES
• Advises where amendments of statutes are proposed either by administration, parent ministry or by way of motion.
• Studies and analyses matters/cases referred involving the local authority and distinguishes those matters that have legal implications and those that relate to policy interpretation and advises the Chief Executive accordingly.
• Litigates where council is being sued or suing.
• Examines and advises local authority on draft documents produced by external bodies for local authorities to sign.
• Liaises with external attorneys representing the local authority in various matters and instructs, briefs, obtains updates and submits reports on such matters.
• Supervises and directs subordinates in accordance with set standards.
• Undertakes any other related duties as directed by management.
